Downloads and offline

Apogee works with no connection. Your library, covers, readers and notes all keep going offline.

Downloading books

Download from a book’s ••• menu or the download button on its page. The button shows live progress (“Downloading • N%”), and you can tap to cancel. Large books resume after an interruption, so locking the phone or switching apps won’t kill a download.

In a mixed library, with audiobooks and ebooks in one folder, each title lands in the right tab by file type, and a dual-format title downloads only the format you’re using.

Delete a download from the book’s ••• menu to free the space. The book streams again when you reopen it online.

Auto-download

Two ways to keep things ready offline without thinking about it:

• Your Queue (Settings → Downloads) keeps the oldest few queued books downloaded, on Wi-Fi only by default, and deletes them again when you finish or remove them.
• Smart Scopes. “Download All” on a scope subscribes to it: new matches download on their own, and the row shows a downloaded/total count. Long-press to stop.

Offline behaviour

• Cold start shows your cached library instantly, with no skeleton and no spinner, then catches up when the server returns.
• Home switches to an offline notice and filters every shelf to downloaded books.
• Browse shows your last-known collections, scopes and series. Opened lists filter to what’s downloaded.
• Downloaded ebooks, comics and PDFs open instantly, and in-book search works offline.
• Covers download alongside the book, so a fully downloaded library shows every cover in airplane mode.
• On a Wi-Fi with no internet, an e-reader hotspot say, Apogee uses your downloaded and cached content instead of stalling on the server.

The Downloads screen

More → Downloads lists everything on the device, sortable by title, date or size. Anything that needs attention, like a stalled or failed download, collects in a card above the list.
